David Dickman

Vice Chair

I’m passionate about the role credit unions can play in society. I hope that they can continue to expand and become more mainstream, providing a clear alternative in the already congested financial serves sector.

I’d like to see credit unions providing affordable credit and financial education to a much wider member base and establishing a clear and differential position in the market place based on values and ownership.

I’ve been a Member of The Co-op Credit Union for over 20 years and been actively involved on the Board since 2005.  In that tie. I’ve held numerous positions within the Credit Union, including Chair of the Credit Committee. I was also Chair for a period of six years overseeing a period of rapid expansion, and am currently Vice Chair.

I retired from The Co-operative Bank in 2004 after completing 44 years of service and undertaking a number of senior executive roles including a period in establishing Unity Trust Bank. Whilst in the employ of The Co-operative Bank, I had the opportunity to develop business within the third sector including Credit Unions, Charities, Mutuals including Building Societies, Co-operatives and the voluntary sector.

I’m a member of The Co-operative Party and have recently retired from The Plunkett Foundation where  I was Treasurer for a number of years and from Caf Bank where I was a non-executive director for 9 years

In serving The Co-op Credit Union, I feel I ‘ve been able to put something back into society, and it’s allowed me to use the skills and knowledge built up over many years working with The Co-operative Bank  & Unity Trust Bank.
