Guest Blog: Introducing Co-operative Energy

We’re delighted to be partnering with the Co-operative Credit Union to offer benefits to their Members. As a co-operative energy supplier we are proud to be supportive of principle six of the co-operative principles, ‘Co-operation among co-operatives’.

Our offer to you

If you’ve been thinking about reviewing your energy supplier, now is definitely the time. Low gas and oil prices have resulted in domestic electricity and gas prices reducing for the first time in years and with the General Election imminent these low prices are unlikely to be around for long.

Most of the current competitive tariffs on offer are “fixed rates” and so will protect the price you pay for a minimum of 12 months irrespective of what happens politically and to oil and gas prices.

Switching supplier is quick and hassle free and can be done online or over the telephone. It only takes around 10 minutes and there’s no need to talk to your current supplier (your new supplier will look after this) and there is a 14 day cooling off period in case you change your mind.

Even if you’re currently on a fixed tariff with penalties, it’s worth carrying out a comparison, as the savings maybe much greater than the penalties incurred. For example the average saving for people who switched to Co-operative Energy in 2014 was £320.

Our pledges to you.

We promise to:

  • Offer consistently competitive prices
  • Keep things simple
  • Be open, honest and transparent in everything we do
  • Ensure our energy is low carbon
  • Share our profits with our members
  • Give our members a real voice in how we are run

In summary, we like treating our customers fairly. We have more information about how we do this on our website

In addition, for everyone who signs up to Co-operative Energy via the Energy banner on the Co-operative Credit Union website link we’ll also make a donation to the Credit Union Member education and development fund.
